Tours & Festivals
The Vocal Music Program enjoys a very active travel schedule, allowing students unique opportunities to perform in some of the most recognized competitions and festivals across our country, as well as some of the most historic and iconic venues. In addition, tours have taken our students on three tours of Western Europe and will soon be pointing us to Hong Kong and China for another outstanding performance experience.
Tours are completely optional and are fee-based. Each tour is planned as a comprehensive educational experience….with students, and chaperones, experiencing life-changing memories, including great attention to history, culture, and recreation, as well as musical performance. Fundraising and many opportunities are provided to help students financially participate in the many tours and festivals that are offered, both locally and abroad. VMPA stands by the commitment that money will not be an obstacle to a hard-working, dedicated Vocal Music student.
2013 Spring Tour
Fri, April 19 (depart at noon) – Sat, April 20 (back to FVHS by 11:30 p.m.) – BARON CHOIR & TROUVERES
This tour will take us down into San Diego county (via luxury motor coach) where we will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott in Mission Valley. Musically, we will be performing at the Heritage Music Festival. Some highlights of the trip will include a full Saturday at Sea World, Old Towne San Diego, UNBELIEVABLE food, fun recreational activities, a bit of culture, relaxing poolside, some unique shopping opportunities and a few surprises that are still in the works!
Performing groups will be our Trouveres & Baron Choir…. I’m excited about the growth of these groups and the great potential I see this year! I’m sure they will do VERY well in the festival! :)
Total cost of the trip will not exceed $320 for students. Chaperone cost is $300 per person.
Any adjustments will be made in the final April 8th payment before tour departs. As this tour will likely involve approximately 50-60 students, we will need a mix of male and female parent chaperones from both Baron Choir & Trouveres! Ideally I would like to have approximately 3-4 of each….total of 7 chaperones!
Payment Plan is as follows:
Dec 5 ~ $40 deposit (this indicates full involvement and commitment to the tour and is non-refundable)
Feb 5 ~ $115 1st installment
Mar 5 ~ $115 2nd installment
Apr 8 ~ $50 final installment
All checks are payable to VMPA and can be turned in to Mr. Tison in class. As well, payments can be made online at fvhsvocalmusic.com Please make these payments on time or send in the money by appropriate due dates!
In order for this tour to happen, approximately 90% of students must participate (28 Trouveres & 25 Baron Choir). If numbers are less, a group may be unable to participate in tour.
If you have questions about your student account or would like to apply any existing credit to the upcoming deposit or installments, contact Student Accounts Coordinator Sue Mundi atvmpamundis@gmail.com
If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer for chaperoning, please contact Mr. Tison directly at ktison@hbuhsd.edu
**If there are financial hardships that might prohibit a student from participating in tour, please contact me so that options can be explored to make tour a reality for your student. All information is shared in full confidentiality. I cannot help fix what I do not know is broken! I will see to it that any hardworking and dedicated students will find a way to be involved in tour!! Mr. Tison
